Miki Howard is a daughter of Clay Graham and Josephine Howard, both of whom were gospel singers. When she was nine her family moved to Los Angeles, where Miki grew up, visiting the houses of such renowned artists as Aretha Franklin and Mavis Staples as her mother’s companion.
