HAAS are the pop-rock band from Virginia who are ready to take on the world with their mainstream yet edgy sound.
Having already given us a taster of their captivating sound and honest lyricism through tracks ‘Behind Those Eyes’ and ‘Mama Always Told Me’, today sees the release of their debut EP, Love & Loss, which is sure to cement their status as one to watch in the industry.
We spoke to Sam Haas about the new EP, what she hopes that people will take away from HAAS’ music, future plans and much more.
Hi HAAS, welcome to CelebMix! For those who may not have heard of you yet, how would you describe your sound?
If you haven’t heard of us yet, we are HAAS and we are a pop/rock band from Virginia.
You’ve just released your new EP, Love & Loss. How are you feeling about the release?
I am very anxious but excited. This EP has been a year in the making. I am very excited to finally have people listen to it.
Can you talk us through the inspiration behind the EP?
Like I said above, the EP was about a year in the making but took inspiration from years ago. There are many inspirations but this EP is mainly about the heartbreak I have experienced over the past few years.
How did you go about picking the final tracklisting for the EP?
It was all based around feeling. I felt that all of these songs tied in the theme and they are what I wanted the world to hear.
Whilst each song will be a favorite of yours, is there a particular track from the EP that you are most excited for people to hear?
I am pumped about people hearing HOME. It is a really cool, emotional track.
What’s your favorite lyric from the EP?
My favorite lyric is from Behind Those Eyes. “Kill your demons, get sober”
What do you hope that fans will take away from the EP?
I hope that fans will take away a place of safety and a feeling of inclusivity. I want them to feel that they are not alone because we will all get through the hard times.
You will be playing an EP release show in Vienna, VA on June 10. What can fans expect from your show?
A fun, wild night full of friends & good music! Come out and support.
Are there any touring plans in the pipeline for the rest of the year?
As of right now, not now. I would love to tour, the is hopefully the main goal in 2020.
Who or what inspires you musically?
My friends, family, the world, love, loss.
Your music comes from a very personal place. How would you say that music helps you to overcome struggles or difficult times?
It allows me to put all my feelings down on paper and it is like a release of all the hurt, anger, all those feelings. It keeps me sane & allows me to move forward.
What would you like to achieve within the next twelve months?
Tour with some awesome bands, release new music and create an awesome space for people to spend their night!
Thank you to Sam for her time. Make sure you follow HAAS on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Spotify.
